Customize the URL structure

LinkCentral allows you to customize the URL structure of your short links, giving you control over how they appear and function. Here’s a step-by-step guide to customizing your short link URL structure.

Change your URL structure

  1. Access LinkCentral Settings
Go to the “Settings”. Look for the “URL Prefix” option under the “General” tab. This setting determines the base structure of your short links.
  2. Choose Your Preferred Prefix
By default, LinkCentral uses “go” as the URL prefix. This means your short links will look like: https://yoursite.com/go/your-custom-slug
You can change this prefix to anything you prefer by selecting another option from the list or selecting “Custom” and writing your custom slug.
  3. Save Your Changes
After selecting your preferred prefix, don’t forget to save your changes. All existing links will be updated.

Please note: All links inserted using LinkCentral’s synchronized insertion methods (such as shortcodes or editor integrations) will automatically update to reflect the new URL structure. However, any links you manually copied and pasted into your content will continue to use the old structure. These manually inserted links should be updated by you to ensure they function correctly with the new URL structure.

Considerations

  • Avoid Conflicts: Ensure your chosen prefix doesn’t conflict with existing page or category slugs on your site.
  • Length: Shorter prefixes and slugs are generally easier for users to remember and share.
  • Consistency: Once you choose a prefix, it’s best to stick with it to maintain consistency.
