Creating a Link

Creating links can be done in seconds. You can create a new link on the ‘Add New Link’ page. A few settings are required to make your link work.

Link Settings

Title

The Link Title is required and is how you will search for this link when adding it to your content. Give it a descriptive name, such as the title of the website it refers to. You can choose any title you like.

Slug

The Slug is the short link that you will insert into your content. It consists of your main domain, the chosen prefix (customizable in the settings), and a unique slug. The slug can only contain URL-friendly characters.

If you enter a title, a slug will be automatically generated, but you can change it to anything you want.

If a link with the same slug already exists, a number will be appended (e.g., 'product' becomes 'product-1').

Destination URL

The Destination URL is where the short link will redirect to. You can insert any URL you like.

To make the destination URL dynamic, click the ‘Dynamic’ button (Premium only).

Link Attributes

Link Attributes define how the link is rendered in your content. By default, they follow the global settings from the Plugin Settings page, but you can override them per link if needed.

  • Nofollow Attribute: Adds rel="nofollow" to the link.
  • Sponsored Attribute: Adds a rel=”sponsored” to the link.
  • Redirection Type: Choose between 301, 302, or 307 redirects.
  • Parameter Forwarding (Premium only): Allows query parameters to be forwarded to the destination.
Example: If your short URL is www.mywebsite.com/go/link?param=value, the final URL will be www.destination.com?param=value.
  • CSS Classes (Premium only): Add or override CSS classes (based on the plugin’s global settings) for styling your link when inserted into content.

Link attributes are only applied when inserting links using the LinkCentral button in the editor. If you change the attributes later, they’ll only update if inserted as synchronized links or shortcodes. See more info here.

Administrative Note

You can add an Administrative Note to your link for internal reference. This is not visible to users and is only for your own use.

Link Categories

Organize your links using categories and subcategories. These are for administrative purposes only and help keep things structured.

Publish Information

  • Status: Choose to publish your link or save it as a draft. Draft links will not redirect until published.
  • Visibility: By default, links are publicly visible. You can also password-protect them or set them as private. If you want to test your links before making them live, set them to Private. This allows signed-in users to access the link, while non-signed-in users will see a “This link is currently not accessible” message.
